Meet the Woman Behind the Project
Hi! I’m Phyllis Rasmussen and I’m the woman behind the ‘Keep Birch Lake Beautiful’ Project. My parents Linda and Buzz Rasmussen have lived on Birch lake for 43 years and live on the lake year round on the West Side. From a young age I have been catching turtles and chasing frogs on Birch Lake, It’s my favorite place to be. I have been married to my best friend, Ciara Rasmussen just over a year now, and we live near Grand Rapids MI where I work remotely from home in Medical Education Admissions and my wife works for the Gun Lake Tribe Utility Authority. My passion project for ‘Keep Birch Lake Beautiful’ stems from my love for seeing people enjoy Birch Lake and always treating it with respect. Keeping the lake clean, always picking up trash, and always finding new ways to elevate the natural environment. I always felt so lucky to live on a lake when I was a kid, but now that I’m 32 I really see what a blessing it is, an oasis. I do not take the views or sunsets or bonfires for granted. The silence at night and the still on the lake in the mornings, what a heavenly place. My favorite weather at the lake is a good storm or heavy rain, best nap in the world. I am selling these clothing garments and art prints in order to sustain our water quality fund on Birch Lake. This project is being fueled by families like yours, small or large in size, I hope that Birch Lake is around for many generations to come so that our children’s children will be able to enjoy the beauty that is our Birch Lake.

I want to extend many sincere thanks to our partners: Birch Lake Water Quality, Coy Jankowski, T-Shirt Wonders in Grand Rapids, MI, Resolution Web Development, and of course my family and friends who cheered me on in my passion project which was turned from dream to reality in a few short weeks.

Thank you for purchasing local and for an amazing cause. Have a safe and sunny summer, I hope to see you on the water!
